Somehow now i realize, how selfish I am...
I only repay your love.. just with my thought of you.
How ungrateful of me... You've given me everything.

God always loves you. He is your maker and cannot do anything but love you.
As a parent, you love your kids - it is something you cannot stop yourself form doing. All you can hope is that they return the love to you. That they are faithful and loyal.
I like to mix a little Hindu thought into my philosophy.
In the Upanishads, Death and Natchiketas are having a discussion. A Christianized version of the text would read as follows (basically I have replaced the Hindu concept of a universal godhead, with simply God):
"Not through much learning is God reached, not through the intellect and sacred teaching. He is reached by the chosen of Him - because they choose Him. To His chosen God reveals His glory."
There is nothing wrong with wanting more, but our want must not be selfish, it must be for the glory of God.
Think of the parable of the rich man who went on holiday and gave each of his servant 10, 5, and 1 coins. The first two did something with it, the last buried it. So, ambition and advancement are not selfish.
